AP Art and Design 2D (Section 1)
Location: 112
Teacher: Mrs. Suzanne Apicella
Advanced Placement Art and Design is for the serious student of art who is self-motivated and committed to building a superior portfolio. This course is equivalent to a first -year college art class and all students are expected to challenge themselves through practice, experimentation and revision. Ideas, materials and processes will be documented and submitted in visual and written form to the College Board. All students will develop a portfolio that contains two sections: Sustained Investigation and Selected Works for submission at the end of the school year to the College Board. Students will be expected to investigate a topic of inquiry over time, and will document their practice,
experimentation and revision. This course encourages and expects creative investigation of formal and conceptual issues in 2-D design, and the expectation is that the student will be involved in the process of inquiry during their sustained investigation throughout the year. Work will be submitted digitally (Sustained Investigation) and by mail (Selected Works) if students choose to forward their portfolios to the College Board. Students may combine media such as painting, photography, printmaking and collage, and either portfolio can include one or many different two-dimensional media.
