Marching Band/Wind Ensemble /Concert Band/Symphonic Band

Full year 5-credit course

1st Quarter : Marching Band

Quarter 2, 3, 4: Wind Ensemble/ Concert Band

Each student enrolled receives a weekly private lesson on his/her instrument

Brass and Woodwind Ensembles

Brass ~ Selected according to instrumentation and interest

Woodwind ~ Selected according to instrumentation and interest

Percussion ~ Selected according to instrumentation and interest

Jazz Ensembles ~ Jazz Combo

Area, Region, All-State and All-Eastern Band

Advanced students are encourages to learn the required solo and scales. Auditions are very competitive. successful candidates then perform in a 'honors' venue with their respective peer group from around the area (36 schools). the region (100 schools), the state (300 schools), and the Northeast U.S. (11States)

STRING ENSEMBLE – ELECTIVE

Full-year 5-Credit Course

Purpose:

The purpose of this course is to provide high school players of the orchestral strings with the opportunity to perform, analyze and critique music of various eras of music history, and to develop the students’ skills in both the mechanics of playing a stringed instrument and the interpretation of the printed musical page. We will explore various style periods and cultures through our stringed instruments.
